Research Committee

The Research Committee of NCONL exists to advance the science of healthcare delivery through nursing research.

Goals include:

  • To document/demonstrate the value of nursing through research
  • To educate nurses on the use of research to improve health care quality, decrease costs (i.e. value-based care) and fully utilize evidence based care
  • To establish a research journal focused upon clinical/unit based research (i.e. staff projects)
  • To host an annual conference consistent with the committee's goals and mission
  • To serve as a vehicle for conducting collaborative research
  • To fund small grants to staff nurses, students and others conducting nursing research in North Carolina healthcare facilities
  • To review abstracts for annual NCONL meetings
  • To serve as a repository for:
    1. resources (i.e. literature, particularly replication studies)
    2. Instruments/tools that can be used by others
    3. Information about funding sources and requirements
    4. A catalog of ongoing studies in the state
    5. A list of individuals who serve on research review groups in the state
