NCONL SUPPORTS:
  1. Autonomy and decision-making among RNs and implementation of models that support Quality Practice

  2. Effective staffing as stated in its Position Statement on staffing. Key elements to consider include skill mix, case mix, experience level of the professional nurse, resource and technology availability.

  3. A system approach to decrease medication errors and promote hand hygiene.

  4. Mandatory reporting on selected outcome measures to CMS and other regulatory/accreditation agencies.

  5. The development and enhancement of leadership skills for all nursing leaders in NC.

  6. Nurse executive involvement at governing body level of institution.
